One of Uzbekistan's big industrial centers is preparing for the implementation of the "Green City of Akhangaran" project.
The issue is the introduction of new highly efficient eco-friendly technologies in the residential sector. The Uzbek Ministry of Housing and Communal Services and the National Energy Saving Company are implementing the projects to improve the life of the population.
One of the most important areas was the improvement of the quality of utilities and the introduction of eco-friendly technologies. The project is implemented in cooperation with China's Jontia Energy Investment Group Co., Ltd. The initiator of the project was the Akhangaran city administration.
To date, due to the deterioration of the heating system, the population uses gas, by heating apartments and houses with gas stoves and other heating appliances. The modernization of existing central heating boilers built more than half a century ago has been recognized as ineffective.
The experts of the Chinese company offered an effective solution to the existing problems by building five highly efficient stations in the city that produce heat and electricity. After these stations are commissioned, gas consumption will decrease by 3-4 times.
As a result of this effective solution, the carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere will be reduced by several times and thereby, the ecological situation in the city will be improved. These technologies, contributing to the preservation of the environment, are classified as "green".
Currently, Chinese experts are preparing a technical justification for the project. The project is planned to be implemented in two stages. The first two units are planned to be built in 2018 and three more units - in 2019. According to preliminary calculations, the project is estimated at $87.45 million.
If the project is successfully implemented, Akhangaran city can be exemplary in the introduction of modern technologies in other cities.
