(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) GAZA, Sept 19 (KUNA) - Chairman of the Hamas Politburo Ismail Haniyah said Tuesday the Palestinian government of national accord will receive warm welcome when it takes over the affairs of Gaza Strip.
The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) made the right decision when it announced in Cairo the dissolution of the administrative committee in Gaza in order to help the government of national accord shoulder its responsibilities towards the Strip, he said.
"The decision was made without any kind of bargaining," Hamiyah said, noting that his movement is keen on the interests of the Palestinian people.
Haniyah made the comments in a press conference here upon his arrival from Cairo through Rafah border crossing.
"We will be back to Cairo in the coming days in order to press ahead with the reconciliation dossier (with Fatah movement)," he stated.
Hamas responded positively to the Egyptian call for hosting talks between Hamas and Fatah on the mechanisms of the implementation of the Cairo accord.
The talks dealt also with the set-up of the Palestinian government, the long-delayed general elections, the restructuring of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), civil liberties and social reconciliation, he said, adding that "insightful steps have already been taken." "Out of keenness on the interests of the Palestinian people, the movement tries to build a strategic relationship with Egypt with a view to breaking the siege on Gaza and putting an end to the suffering of Gazans," he revealed.
Haniyah thanked the Egyptian leadership for hosting the recent round of talks, appreciating the efforts made by chief of the Egyptian Egyptian General Intelligence Service Khaled Fawzi in this regard.
