Amman, Sept. 5 (Petra) -- Minister of Transport, Jamil Mujahid, Tuesday said the ministry would welcome and support any investment project in the transport sector.

The minister gave his remarks as he received member of the Italian Parliament, Khalid Chaouki, in the presence of MP Mohammad Riyati, who coordinated the meeting, to discuss investment opportunities in the transport sector in Jordan.

Mujahid noted that investing in transport is considered one of the most important areas of investment in the Kingdom, adding that the ministry has prepared a series of feasibility studies for the development and operation of the national rail network, but obstacles related to funding prevented their implementation.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, also received MP Chaouki to discuss investment opportunities in the Kingdom's energy sector.

Al-Kharabsheh voiced the ministry's readiness to support energy projects, especially solar storage projects.

MP Chaouki said many Italian and European investors are keen to invest in Jordan, which enjoys many investment advantages, such as security and stability as well as its strategic geographical location with Gulf states, Iraq and Syria.

Riyati commended the Italian Parliament's cooperation in following-up and supporting the investment process in Jordan, calling on official bodies to follow-up on foreign initiatives willing to invest in the Kingdom.
