QRCS brings relief to cholera-hit S Sudan

(MENAFN - Gulf Times) Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) is carrying out a humanitarian programme in Southern Sudan to provide urgent relief to people affected by the cholera outbreak in the country.
The humanitarian programme, launched earlier this year, is supported by Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD). It provides shelter, water and environmental sanitation and also aims at raising the capacity of local medical staff.
According to the reports, the establishment of many necessary sanitation facilities within hospitals, schools and refugee camps has been completed while a number of facilities were rehabilitated, QRCS said in a press release yesterday.
QRCS is also conducting awareness campaigns aimed at raising the level of personal hygiene, preventing disease, communicating with parents as well as providing daily health and prevention awareness.
Large parts of South Sudan face lack of food security amid rising prices, especially in the tropical region, which has recently witnessed a wave of violence.
