(MENAFN - Morocco World News) Rabat – Moroccan Business Bridge, a forum for Moroccan entrepreneurs living abroad, opened in Rabat on Monday.
The two-day event marks the launch of the digital economic region aimed at attracting 300 thousand Moroccan entrepreneurs abroad.
The digital region was first announced by the government and General Confederation of Moroccan Companies (CGEM) in February.
One-hundredMoroccan entrepreneurs from around the globe as well as 200 local entrepreneurs and representatives of public and private institutions have a chance to meet and network.
For the organizers of the forum, the event aims "to create a platform for professional exchange between entrepreneurs from around the world and Morocco" and facilitatemeetings between Moroccan entrepreneursliving abroad and local decision makers.
The organizers also hope to encourage Moroccan investors residing in foreigncountries to invest in their country of origin and help Moroccan companies grow their exports with the help of Moroccan entrepreneurs abroad.
In a statement, the Ministry Delegate for Moroccans Abroad said that CGEM, "being a representative of the private sector, decided to regroup its efforts in a digital economic region" which will become the confederation's 13th region.
The union of Moroccan businesspeoplehas 12 economic regions all over Moroccan territory, while the 13th is reserved for Moroccan entrepreneurs living outside the kingdom.
"During the last years, we have witnessed in Morocco an important increase in the number of companies created by Moroccan entrepreneurs, investors, and talents living abroad,who belong to a community of more than 5 million people distributed in around 120 countries," said the release.
The ministry said that the government has sought encouraging "this dynamic" through the establishment of orientation service and the launch of a program to assist initiatives aiming tocreate companies.
The release added that CGEM, through its commissions, regions, and representatives, "works to promote the development of companies" by creating a place where businesses can flourish.
"The 13 economic region of CGEM will thus help the integration of Moroccan entrepreneurs around the world in Moroccan economy by bringing their experience and expertise and making them benefit from Moroccan experience in different fields," added the statement.
