(MENAFN - Morocco World News) Morocco welcomed, Wednesday in Cairo, the proposal adopted by the Council of Arab Communication Ministers, aiming at recognizing the Al-Quds city as capital of Arab media in 2016.
In a speech on the occasion of the 47th session of the council, Moroccan communication minister, government spokesman, Mustapha Khalfi, noted that Morocco welcomes the proposal of the Technical Secretariat and the Standing Committee of the Council of communication Arab Ministers to recognize the Al-Quds as Arab media capital. Morocco, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, is determined to defend the Al-Quds city and support the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, the minister said, noting that the Moroccan people considers the Palestinian issue as the first national cause. He also said that HM the King had called, at the last meeting of the Al-Quds Committee, for the preservation of this holy city, and the fight against all plans to Judaize it, and advocated the implementation of concrete projects in the fields of education, health and housing in order to support the resistance of the Al-Quds inhabitants and defend the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. The minister also called on the General Secretariat of the Arab League to adopt a strategic reflection able to avoid biased treatment of numerous issues such as extremism, terrorism, and the colonization of the Al-Quds, as well as other questions related to peace, stability and unity of the Arab countries.
