Ashghal Announces Closure, Diversion on Temporary Truck Route

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) announced that it will implement a temporary closure on both directions of the temporary truck route (TTR), stretching 5 km north of Salwa Road towards Lusail in coordination with the Traffic Department.

Access to the Doha West Sewage Treatment Plant will also be closed and the plan goes into effect on Saturday and lasts for six months.

During this period, both directions of the two existing lanes will be closed in two phases. Traffic will be diverted to an alternative road with the same number of lanes. The diversion will be located on the left side of the TTR adjacent to the closed road.

The diversion is required to allow for the construction of the proposed bridge and part of the new road, as part of the new orbital highway and truck route project, contract two.

The first stage of the closure includes a full closure and diversion of traffic to the southbound lane toward Salwa Road. The second stage takes place 24 hours later and includes the closure of the northbound lane toward Lusail while traffic will be diverted to the new lane. A new roundabout will be built on the temporary road to provide safe passage from both directions to the entrance of the Doha West sewage plant.

The speed limit will be reduced to 80 kph for light vehicles and 50 kph for trucks and heavy vehicles all along the diversion route to ensure the safety of road users and the project's workforce.
