'No extradition of Kuwaiti citizen'

(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Kuwaiti Constitution prevents extraditing Kuwaiti citizens to any other country even if a court ruling has been issued in that country for their imprisonment, reports Al- Qabas daily quoting a senior judicial source.

In response to talks concerning handing over MP Abdulhameed Dashti to Bahrain after a final court verdict was issued to sentence him to two years in jail, the source said "As long as the citizen stays in Kuwait, he/she will not be handed over.

However, if the citizen is outside Kuwait, seized by Interpol and extradited to that country, the action will not be challenged". He indicated that some agreements concerning exchange of suspects are being discussed but Kuwait so far has been following the law governed by the Kuwaiti Constitution.

Regarding the investigations with MP Dashti in the case of insulting Saudi Arabia, the source said, "This is within the competence of the prosecution, whether related to search and arrest or summoning".
