Abu Dhabi s Adasi showcases advanced unmanned systems at Umex 2016

ABU DHABI 6th March 2016 (WAM) --- The UAE drone maker Abu Dhabi Autonomous Systems Investments (Adasi) is participating in the second Unmanned System Exhibition (Umex) to showcase its Aerostat 200 a moored surveillance system that can remain airborne for one week without the need for maintenance Sulaiman Al Shamsi Operation Director at Adasi told WAM.

Aerostat-200 is a large fabric envelope filled with helium and can rise up to an altitude of 1000 feet while tethered by a single cable. It can lift a 70 kg payload to an operating altitude providing low-level downward-looking radar coverage.

Adasi will also showcase its Al Sabr system an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) using a rotorcraft design and a fully autonomous vertical take-off and landing platform as well as parachutes and other high-quality customer-tailored and easy-to-use military equipment.

Al Shamsi said 80 Emirati engineers are working for Adasi's autonomous systems sector.

An autonomous system can be programmed to automatically carry out specific operational missions (with a certain level of self-governance) under the control and guidance of a human-operator at mission level.

Through its concerted efforts in support of diversifying the UAE economy as well as with its partners Adasi strives to develop and strengthen the country's technological capabilities.

Al Shamsi noted that 29 Emirati companies are taking part in Umex 2016 held from 6th-8th March at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Centre to showcase their innovative solutions set to make a qualitative leap in the unmanned systems industry.
