Oman- 1000 packets of chewing tobacco seized in Sur

The Consumer Protection Administration in Sur in coordination with the ROP has seized over a 1000 packets of chewing tobacco sale of which is illegal in Oman.

The raid was carried out after a tip-off that a store worker was using his vehicle to store and sell chewing tobacco. He has been fined RO400. The Public Authority for Consumer Protection has advised the public against consuming tobacco products as they pose a health threat.

It also issues warnings to traders against sale of banned tobacco products. The authority has said that it will take strict action against those violating the law.
