Palestinian PM lauds HAI s humanitarian operations in Palestine

JENIN 6th January 2016 (WAM)Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah has commended the leading humanitarian role played by the UAE's charitable and relief agencies in the Palestinian territories.

''Humanitarian programmes of these organisations meet the requirements of thousands of Palestinians. The UAE's relief agencies are always in the forefront in times of need in the West Bank Gaza Strip and Jerusalem'' the Palestinian prime minister said in a statement on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of operations of the Human Appeal International (HAI) in the Palestinian territories.

''The Ajman-based relief agency has succeeded in building a large network of social security for orphans in Palestine and has evolved as one of the major humanitarian actors in areas of care for orphans and the poor in Palestine'' he added lauding it as a key and historic partner in the building of the State of Palestine.

Yousef Adeis Palestinian Minister of Waqf and Religious Affairs said the HAI is a major actor of charity in Palestine and had left immortal hallmarks in strengthening the resistance of the Palestinian people.

He said the HAI is sponsoring more than 20000 Palestinian orphans.

HAI Commissioner-General in the West Bank Ibrahim Rashid said that the UAE's humanitarian organisation had built a strong network of social security for orphans.

''The HAI started its operations in Palestine 26 years ago with a budget of not more than AED150000 and has since then grows by leaps and bounds to AED22 million'' he said.

HAI's comprehensive programme he added covers 22000 orphans receiving cash and kind assistance while the Orphan's Fund provides health social educational and relief services.
