Abu Dhabi airport traffic rises at 16 percent


(MENAFN) Passenger traffic through Abu Dhabi International Airport last month increased nearly 16 percent compared to the same period last year.

Moreover, the increase comes on the back of Etihad Airways growing capacity to London, the use of Airbus A380 aircraft boosted capacity between Abu Dhabi and the UK by 53 pct.

In the Jan-Nov period of this year, almost 21.7mn travelers passed through the airport, up 17.4 percent from 18mn in the year earlier period.

Additionally, Abu Dhabi Airports Company has finished a restoration of Terminal 1 and plans to open the Midfield Terminal in 2017 at a cost of USD 3.2bn.
