Mowasalat, Qatar Rail to showcase transport sector at Milan congress


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Mowasalat, in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport and along with Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail), will represent Qatar and showcase its transport sector in the international arena at the three-day 61st UITP World Congress and Exhibition, which begins in Milan, Italy, today.

Mowasalat is a member of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) since 2005.

"Our participation in the UITP Congress and Exhibition," said Khalid al-Hail, CEO of Mowasalat, "under the guidance and leadership of the Minister of Transport HE Jassim bin Saif al-Sulaiti, will be a significant opportunity to interact and share ideas and experiences with leaders in the industry for accomplishment of long-term sustained economic growth, enhancement of the quality of life, engagement with stakeholders, sharing expert knowledge to learn from the past and prepare for a future of continued development, application of the best practices and leave a legacy for sustained transport solutions.

The delegation taking part in the event comprises senior officials of Mowasalat, whose participation is aimed at highlighting Qatar's transportation industry and sustainable mobility solutions at the event.

Qatar Rail delegates will participate in the sessions of the congress and its CEO, Saad al-Muhannadi, will speak at the Mena session to present some of the projects in the pipeline.

The session will be chaired by al-Sulaiti, who is also the chairman of Mowasalat and UITP-Mena.

Mowasalat and Qatar Rail will showcase their products, services and projects for the growth and development of Qatar's transport network in the exhibition area along with the Ministry of Transport.

Nasser al-Khanji, executive director (operations and support services) and UITP-Mena board member, said: "This international platform provides a big opportunity for knowledge-sharing, networking and to be updated on the latest innovations and technology, which will aid us in bringing best practices to serve our customers and the people of Qatar better and more efficiently and effectively."

Ali Bahzad, Mowasalat director (taxi and limousine department) and UITP-Mena board member, will present a paper on the "taxi franchise programme in Qatar's taxi industry" during a session on "trends and strategies in the taxi sector".
