(MENAFN - Arab Times) Under the direction of Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs Major General AbdulFattah Al-Ali, the General Traffic Department (GTD) carried out a series of traffic campaigns throughout the week; leading to the issuance of 31,667 traffic citations, impounding of 745 vehicles and motorbikes, and arrest of 113 motorists.
During the campaigns, a total of 1,778 traffic accidents were recorded and 69 service orders were implemented. In details, the latest statistical report released by the department showed that 3,671 traffic citations were issued in the Capital Governorate; in addition to the impounding of 86 vehicles and arrest of two motorists due to various violations. In Hawally, there were 8,053 traffic citations, 125 seized vehicles and 25 motorists were arrested. In Farwaniya, a total of 3,861 traffic citations were issued, 71 vehicles were confiscated and 21 motorists were arrested; while in Ahmadi, there were 4,098 traffic citations, 72 vehicles were seized and 29 motorists were arrested.
In Mubarak Al-Kabeer, 188 traffic citations were issued, 11 vehicles were seized and one motorist was arrested; while in Jahra there were 2,153 traffic citations, 66 vehicles were seized and two motorists were arrested. The report also showed that the Operations Room issued 1,658 traffic citations and seized 64 vehicles, while the Task Team recorded 1,325 traffic violations. Moreover, the Undersecretary Special Team, led by Colonel Munief Al-Muteiri, issued 6,660 traffic citations, seized 250 vehicles and arrested 33 motorists including eight juveniles who were driving without a license.
