New law for Saudi public transport

(MENAFN) The Saudi Council of Ministers passed new policies of the Public Transport Authority (PTA), reported Arab News. The new law stated that PTA will have financial and administrative independence but will be connected with the ministry of transport. A Cabinet statement said, The PTA will regulate and supervise public transport services and try to improve its standard while reducing unnecessary expenditures. It will also encourage investment in the sector in line with the Kingdoms economic and social development objectives. This new law comes at a crucial time since the gulf kingdom is planning to improve public transport in Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam.
