(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Ras Al Khaimah Police on Thursday arrested a gang, comprising four Asians, for being involved in a series of thefts of electricity cables and building materials from 20 under-construction sites. Speaking to Khaleej Times, Colonel Hamad Al Dabbani, Director of the RAK Criminal Investigation Department (CID), said that on receiving a number of complaints about such thefts, the CID formed a team of officers to search and investigate the mystery behind the thefts. He added that there was a spate of thefts in the last two months of 2012 and it continued until the police managed to set up plan to bust the gang. During the investigations, the police detected suspicious movements of one of the gang members around an under-construction villa, while his other companions were waiting for him in the street to check on the movement of any passerby. The police immediately arrested them red handed while they were attempting the theft of building material in the villa. The police also confiscated all tools used in the crime. During the interrogation the gang members confessed to their crimes and also notified the police about the location of the stolen items. Col Al Dabbani urged owners of under-construction buildings, to hire a guard to prevent such thefts.
