New York, Rabi'I 03, 1439, November 21, 2017, SPA -- Around 40 people were injured and one was
unaccounted for after two explosions at a cosmetics factory north of
New York City on Monday, dpa reported.
Workers were suffering from burns or as a result of being thrown to the ground by the force of the twin blasts, a spokesman for the fire department in Orange County told reporters. More than 30 people were injured in the first explosion, and seven firefighters were hit by the second, an emergency services spokesman said. None of the injuries recorded were life-threatening. One of the company's employees was missing after the blasts. The factory, which employs around 250 people, uses alcohol-based substances to produce nail polish and perfume. It is slightly larger than half a football field. Around 120 firefighters continued to battle the flames hours after the explosions on Monday morning.
