(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RIYAHD, Oct 29 (KUNA) -- Under the aegis of Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Riyadh first international humanitarian forum would be held during the period of February 24-26.

The announcement was made by the Saudi Royal Court's advisor and the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief)'s Supervisor General Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabiah during a conference held in Riyadh Sunday on enhancing response to the humanitarian situation in Yemen.

He pointed out that the Saudi Kingdom is leading the humanitarian action in Yemen.

The Kingdom has provided Yemeni people with aid at a total cost of USD 8.27 billion in the past two and a half years, he said.

He noted that the KSRelief seeks to boost and upgrade humanitarian services and aid in Yemen in collaboration with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

He voiced the KSRelief backing to the UN envoy to Yemen's initiative to employ Al-Hudaydah port and Sanaa airport for beefing up humanitarian work in the war-torn country.

He unveiled that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has also proposed the use of the Saudi southern Jizan port and other land crossing points to streamline the flow of humanitarian and relief aid to all Yemeni cities. (end) od.ibi
