EU closely follows developments on Iranian nuclear deal


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BRUSSELS, Oct 6 (KUNA) -- The European Union (EU) is following very closely all the developments on the Iranian nuclear deal after media reports that the US administration might announce next week its withdrawal from the agreement, a EU spokesperson said Friday.

"It is a non-proliferation deal which has been endorsed by the UNSC and is working and delivering," Catherine Ray, spokesperson for EU High Representative Federica Mogherini, told a news conference.

"It is a durable long term solution to the Iranian nuclear issue," she stressed, adding that the EU expects all sides to stick to their current commitment "The deal could not be renegotiated," added Ray.

Iran in 2015 signed an agreement on is nuclear program, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) , with the five permanent UN Security Council members - the US, France, the UK, China, and Russia - and Germany. (end) nk.msa
