EU to prevent migrants setting off from coast of Libya

(MENAFN) The EU aims to go on preventing migrants setting off from the coast of Libya, despite criticism from rights advocates who say the plan is aggravating human suffering.

Additionally, after more than two years struggling to stem the flow of refugees and migrants from the Mena region, the EU is hopeful it is finally in control.

A last year deal with Turkey closed one major migratory route and this year Italy has led the EU's efforts to curb sea crossings from Libya.

Furthermore, human rights groups decry the EU's help for Libya"s Prime Minister and allied militias who run migrant detention centers they have compared to concentration camps.
