The woman was sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital and was in critical condition.

Police arrested a 50-year-old Hong Kong woman who was in charge of the parlor and a 33-year-old woman who holds a two-way permit from mainland China on suspicion of taking part in an illegal medical practice and possessing and using a poison without a license.

Chan Tsz-leung, assistant commander of Yau Tsim district crime unit, said 14 tubes of the toxic substance were found in the beauty parlor. The police investigation is ongoing.

It was understood that the victim was the elder sister of the beauty-parlor owner, HK01.com reported, adding that she had visited the shop for facelift treatment.
