Mideast airlines posts 4.5pct increase in passenger demand

(MENAFN) The Middle Eastern airlines, which involve three fast increasing main Gulf carriers, posted a 4.5 percent increase in passenger demand in July this year.

However, the number was still well below the 5-year average pace of 11.2 percent despite the surge in demand.

Meanwhile, the Mideast to North America market has been affected by a combination of factors this year, involving the cabin ban on large portable electronic devices.

According to IATA, which shows some 275 airlines covering 83 percent of global air traffic, traffic growth on the Mideast-U.S. route was slowing in early this year.
