Kenyatta's supporters pelted with stones

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta's supporters were yesterday pelted with stones at a campaign rally ahead of upcoming elections, according to witnesses.
Kenyatta was campaigning in Mandera, northern Kenya, when supporters wearing the red colours of his Jubilee Party were surrounded and attacked by blue-clad members of the Economic Freedom Party.
Several Jubilee supporters were injured. Amina Gedow Hassan, an Economic Freedom Party candidate, said the large turnout by her supporters was a 'political revolution in the region.
In May, another rally in the northern town of Isiolo turned violent after supporters of two ruling-party gubernatorial candidates clashed.
Police shot dead a man during the protest. Kenyans will go to the polls on August 8.
