UAE- Gargash receives UN Special Representative in Libya

ABU DHABI 3rd May 2016 (WAM) Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash Minister of State for Foreign Affairs received in his office in Dubai today Martin Kobler Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

The meeting discussed the latest developments in Libya and the progress and challenges of the peace process there.

Dr. Gargash renewed UAE's support to the political process in Libya initiated by the Skhirat Agreement. He applauded the efforts made by the UN Special Representative and said that the UAE was keen to see appropriate constitutional steps by the Libyan House of Representatives to approve the government of national accord.

Dr. Gargash also stressed the importance of boosting the role of Libyan institutions and the need to ensure participation of all Libyan components in the political process. He reiterated the UAE's support to all efforts aimed at maintaining security and stability in Libya.

The meeting was attended by Faris Al Mazrouei Assistant Foreign and International Cooperation Minister for Security and Military Affairs and Mohammed Isa Abu Shihab Director of Policies Planning at the Ministry.
