(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Al Gannas Society, a Qatari association of hunters, will represent Qatar at the 13th edition of Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX 2015).
This was announced at a press conference held on Tuesday at Four Seasons Hotel Doha.
The annual heritage festival will be held from September 9 to 12 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center and will see hundreds of participants from around 50 countries showcasing the best in hunting, equestrian, and outdoor sports.
Al Gannas will be showcasing at the four-day event the equipment and supplies used in hunting and falconry, falcons, booklets and pamphlets on Al Gannas, its important role and festivals it has organised and participated both in Qatar and overseas, among others.
Through its participation at the event, Al Gannas aims to raise awareness on falconry and hunting as well as raise the level of various types of hunting being an important heritage and sporting activity shared by Gulf countries.
Abdullah Al Qubaisi, ADIHEX manager and project director of the committee for festivals and cultural and heritage programmes, said Qatar and the UAE reflect deep brotherly relations since ancient times as they share the same love for the sport of falconry, equestrian and camel racing.
He stressed that the exhibition is an opportunity to further strengthen cooperation among the GCC countries in the field of environmental protection and conservation and the promotion of customs and traditions among Arab youth.
Among the highlights of the annual event are equestrian shows, Arab greyhound beauty contest, falcon show, camel auction, popular bands shows, hunting activities, photos of the best and most beautiful falcons, hunting and equestrian photo contest, poetry contest on birds and hunters, an exhibition of the most beautiful photos taken by AFP in the United Arab Emirates in 2014, poetry symposium and popular artistic shows.
