A statement from the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said the Anti-Narcotics Department at the Ras Al Khaimah Police had received information about a GCC national who had managed to smuggle drugs into the UAE via the Ras Al Darah border post. The suspect was planning to sell and deliver the drugs to two other Arabs residing in the UAE.

In coordination with the customs officers at the Al Darah border post, the police searched the vehicle as if naturally facilitating transit procedures in order to avoid arousing the suspicion of the suspect. There, the team coordinated with the Anti-Narcotics Department at Umm Al Quwain Police to conduct an ambush and apprehend the suspect.

Upon searching the vehicle, the police found 35,000 narcotic pills and 6kg of hashish that the suspect had hidden in secret pockets and compartments.
