Qatar- Exchange house offers free remittance to Nepal

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) An overseas cash transfer service, City Express Money Transfer, said yesterday it will not charge any fee from Nepali expatriates for cash transfer and bank account transfers in view of the devastating earthquake that struck the Himalayan nation last Saturday.

Though a global service City Express currently operates services only for Nepal and has plans to introduce its services to other countries soon,

City Express charges QR12 for bank transfers (expatriates wanting funds credited in their bank accounts in Nepal) and QR18 for cash transfers.

Shan Kamarudheen (pictured), Business Development Manager of City Express, said in a release yesterday that starting yesterday its services for Nepal will be free until April 30.

Kamarudheen said in remarks to this newspaper later yesterday that this deadline can even be extended. "Our services are available in all major exchange companies in Qatar - Islamic Exchange, City Exchange, Al Dar Exchange, Doha Exchange, Al Sadd Exchange, Al Mirqab Exchange, Gulf Exchange and Al Mana Exchange. The services will soon be available at Eastern Exchange, Al Jazeera Exchange and Trust Exchange also," said Kamarudheen.

"With our state-of-the-art technology and extensive network, we provide a secure way to send and receive money. We can instantly deposit money, transferred from anywhere around the world, to remitter's bank account in Nepal," he said.

"We can immediately deposit the money to the remitter's bank account. This unique messaging system works through an automatically generated text message (SMS) to the remitter that the remittance had been disbursed.

"The remitter also has an option of sending a short message or instruction to the beneficiary. City Express notifies beneficiary via telephone that he/she can collect the remittance from the nearest City Express location," said the statement.

The receiver can collect money from any branch of top-21 commercial banks, 48 development banks and 32 finance companies and over 4,000 payout locations, said Kamarudheen.
