The current economic downturn is still very much visible in Croatia with disposable household incomes nowhere near recovering. This leaves a mark on consumption of analgesics and is driving consumers towards frugality despite obvious reasons for the use of such products.

Competitive Landscape

Croatian company Belupo dominated sales in 2014 and increased its value share from 18% to 20%. The company sells four analgesics brands two of which are systemic and two of which are topical. In addition the company is also the owner of the leading Lupocet brand which even outperforms the renowned global brand Aspirin by Bayer Pharma. The latter company ranked second in 2014 with a value share of 13% - a slight increase from the 12% recorded the year before. The company sells two brands with Aspirin leading sales in Croatia.
