Qatar- Thousands flock to MoI's mega Eid events

Thousands of expatriates enjoyed the mega-cultural and infotainment events organised by the Ministry of Interior (MoI) and Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MOADLSA) on the first and second days of Eid Al Adha at Asian Town, Labour City, Barwa Baraha, Al Wakra Sports Club, Al Ahli Sports Club and Barwa Workers Recreation Complex in Al Khor.

Indian, Bangladeshi and Sri Lankan artistes and popular groups performed at various cultural events in Asian Town, Labour City and Barwa Baraha playground. Sri Lankan and Bangladeshi community groups and artistes from Indian associations including BPQ, Bharathi, TPS, Birla Summer Camp, QTS, Sanskriti, Skills Development Center and Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), along with popular music troupes, presented spectacular shows.

Thousands of workers from various communities were delighted with an array of colourful programmes, songs and awareness themed shows in different venues.

Different departments under the MoI including Al Fazaa, General Directorate of Civil Defence, Community Police Department, Criminal Evidences and Investigation Department, General Directorate of Traffic, Human Rights Department and International Work Relations Department at the Ministry of Administrative Development and Labour participated with awareness programmes that helped to educate the workers about their rights and different safety and security measures.

The stage play on traffic safety, drugs and illegal work in Qatar presented by Sanskriti artists captivated the audience with valuable information.

Popular artistes from Nepal such as Rajesh Payel Rai, famous comedian Sandip Chhetri, Chanda Aryal, Pramila Shree Khanal and Amrita Limbu and Nepalese community groups and artists showcased musical and cultural shows including song and dance items at Al Ahli Sports Club at Al Ahli Sports Club stadium on the first two days of Eid.

Famous Pakistani artists Shahid Ali Khan, Khalid Malek, Khwaja Masoud, Nadiya Gul, Deepa Kiran and Mariya Khan performed various events for two days at Al Wakrah stadium.

Thousands of gifts were distributed to the attendees in all venues. The community members were delighted to join the Eid events and thanked the MoI and hte Ministry of Labour for their care and concern for the communities.

Dignitaries from MoI and MOADLSA participated in the events. Brigadier Abdullah Khalifa Al Muftah, Director of Public Relations Department, visited the venues along with many officers from different departments of MoI.Khalid Abdullah Sultan Al Ghanem, Director of International Workers' Relations Department at MOADLSA, said that the cooperation between MoI and MOADLSA to organise cultural events for workers was a successful move that reflected the care of both ministries for the wellness of workers.

Colonel Ghanem Saad Al Khiyarain, Head of External Branches at Community Policing Department, said that such activities, in addition to the entertainment programmes, provided an important awareness mission to the members of the communities in the aspects of security and safety, as well as introducing the customs and traditions of the Qatari community.

Different community representatives expressed their happiness for the support of the Ministries for such great events. Janan Bangish (Pakistan), Tennison (Sri Lanka) and Vishal Mehta, Head of Cultural Activities at ICC, emphasized that such events would enhance the bonds of friendship between expatriates and the Qatari community and thanked the ministries for their great support in promoting the communities in Qatar.
