Qatar Leadership Centre (QLC) has taken an important step in fulfilling its objective to be a platform for leadership excellence with the election of seven alumni to serve on its Alumni Association Council.
The election is the first in the Association's history and was undertaken following direction from H E Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Chairperson of QLC's Board of Directors. 'The formation of the QLC Alumni Association Council reflects Qatar Leadership Centre's unwavering and active commitment to strengthening Qatar's leadership capacity, in line with the vision of Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, noted H E Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
The QLC Alumni Association Council will work closely with the Centre's Management to progress its mission and objectives and enhance strong existing links between the Centre and its alumni community. The Council will play an important role in ensuring that the Centre's legacy of education, development and growth endures.
The following candidates were elected as members of the Council through an e-voting election process and will fulfil a two-year term:
* Khalifa Jassim Al Kuwari
* AlJazzi Hamad Fetais
* Khalifa Mohammed Al Sobai
* Mansoor Ahmed Al Saadi
* Mishal Jabor Al Thani
* Ahmed Salman Al Sulaiti
* Abdullah Radi Al Hajri
* Hassan Abdulla Al Emadi
The QLC Alumni Association Council will be responsible for organising a range of activities and events and support initiatives designed to build ties between members, support their development as business and societal leaders and contribute to the pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030. In addition to participating in these activities, the entire alumni community will also have the opportunity to contribute to the Association by joining select committees. Details of Alumni Association events and activities will be announced in the near future.
All alumni were eligible to become a candidate for the Council by being nominated by a fellow alumnus or by nominating themselves.
As part of the election process, candidates articulated their vision and action plans to voters by publishing these on QLC's online portal. Election campaigns were run by the individual candidates in order to present their ideas and raise support amongst peers before the voting deadline. Candidates deployed a variety of approaches including social media activity and in-person presentations to canvass for support and to help voters make an educated and informed decision.
A preparation alumni committee, chaired Khalid Abdulla Al Hitmi, alumnus of the 2012-2013 Executive Leaders Program, helped lay the groundwork for the elections. The leadership of QLC expressed their gratitude to Al Hitmi and the members of the committee for all they have done in managing this important milestone.
Since it was established, nearly 400 Qatari men and women holding senior positions across sectors have successfully completed QLC's Executive Leaders, Government Leaders or Rising Leaders programs. In just a few short years, QLC has made considerable progress as a platform for leadership excellence, in support of the development goals of Qatar.
