Pakistan's Habib Bank marks 75 years aims to build on long history


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Pakistan's first and largest bank, Habib Bank Limited (HBL), celebrated its 75th anniversary at Al Falaj Hotel on Wednesday.

HBL was formed in 1941 and has operated in Oman since 1972, where it has seven branches.

According to officials, HBL was once the second largest bank in Oman, behind the British Bank of the Middle East (now HSBC). Today, HBL has over 1,700 branches, 1,900 ATMs and more than 8.5mn customers. It is present in 25 countries across four continents.

Syed Ali Hasnanin, regional general manager, spoke at the event along with H E Ali Javed, Pakistan's Ambassador to Oman.

Hasnanin said the bank is hoping to build on its long history. 'With a rich heritage over 75 years, HBL is now looking towards an even brighter future with boundless opportunities and aims to continue to serve the local and international markets where it operates with a focus on the needs of its customers and resolve to inspire them to dream more,' he said.

As part of the celebrations, 15 customers were awarded air tickets to Pakistan.
