DOHA: About 92 million e-pages have been surfed on islamweb.net run by the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs within two months from May 22 to July 15.

The surfing of pages was up two percent this year compared to the corresponding period last year at around 91m pages, said Mohammad bin Hamad Al Kuwari, Head, Call and Guidance Department at the ministry.

The website and its special page on Ramadan (Ramadan oasis) have attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors during the past two months. The services are available in five languages — Arabic, English, French, Spanish and German).

The surfed pages increased from 655,000 last year to 963,000, up 47 percent.

Contents include Islamic opinions (fatwas), consulting, articles, video and audio files and others, said Al Kuwari.

The Islamic opinions (fatwas) office for the website received more than 12,000 fatwas, including direct fatwas, also through chat fatwas and those through SMS.

The website answers questions in a direct way, benefiting from the technology that helps the questioners who want to seek an Islamic opinion or verdict in an easy way and in less time. During Ramadan, islamweb.net witnessed an important development with the launch of a website for people with hearing disability.
