Qatar committed to global peace & security: FM


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Foreign Minister H E Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and other officials taking part in the Ministerial Meeting of the Global Coalition to Counter Terrorism in Washington, DC.

Doha: Foreign Minister H E Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani took part in the Ministerial Meeting of the Global Coalition to Counter Terrorism, hosted by the US State Department in Washington, DC.

The meeting dealt with ways to strengthen joint international coordination and cooperation to combat terrorism.

The Foreign Minister stressed Qatar";s commitment to continue working with the international community to promote international peace and security.

He warned that the continuation of the crisis in Syria and the absence of a political horizon to resolve it would hamper international efforts to eradicate terrorism. He said these efforts should conform to international laws, norms of international law and human rights and highlighted the importance of supporting humanitarian projects and the empowerment of local and national institutions of the communities affected by terrorism.
