Olaroiu and Junior fined by UAEFA

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Al Ahli coach Cosmin Olaroiu and Al Shabab coach Caio Junior have been fined by the Disciplinary Committee of the UAE Football Association (UAE FA) for protesting the refereeing decisions during the 25th round of the Arabian Gulf League.

Romanian coach Olaroiu who guided the Red Knights to a seventh Arabian Gulf League title this term has been fined Dh2000 for showing his disapproval against the referee's decisions during Al Ahli's fixture against Bani Yas at the Rashid Stadium last Friday as well as addressing the press conference after the match.

Olaroiu was furious at numerous decisions during the game especially an apparent elbow by Bani Yas' Amer Abdulrahman on Ismail Al Hammadi in the closing minutes. Earlier just past the hour the Red Knights were down to 10 men after midfielder Khamis Ismail was sent off for two fouls on the run with the referee Ahmed Salim Khalfan dishing out two yellow cards and then the dreaded red.

Olaroiu was banished to the stands with a few minutes left in the game and later arrived for the post-match press conference. As per the rules a coach is not allowed to speak at the post-match press conference after he has been sent off. But Olaroiu came with a member of his support staff and spoke before departing without taking any questions.

Meanwhile Al Caio Junior too was fined Dh2000 for protesting against the refereeing decisions during his team's match against Al Dhafra at the Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan Stadium in the Western Region also on Friday night.

Dibba's team manager Jumah Al Abdouli too was fined for complaining against the refereeing decisions during his side's game against Al Wasl at the Zabeel Stadium last Thursday night while Sanad Ali has been banned for three games and fined Dh50000 for pushing the referee. Sanad Ali was sent off on 58 minutes during the match.

The penalties were handed out by the Disciplinary Committee headed by Judge Salem Bhaan Ameri. -
