Saudi- Handle with care

(MENAFN- Arab News) This is with reference to the article 'Turkey at a crossroads' (Sept. 2) by Stuart Williams. Within a very short span Turkey emerged as a power country rapidly moving on the road to progress. The credit for this progress definitely goes to President Recep Teyyip Erdogan and his AK party. Erdogan and his party managed to maintain their winning streak for over a decade. Their continuous electoral gains indicated the Turkish people's trust on their policies. The recent electoral setback should serve as a call for soul searching. It is perfectly normal to make mistakes but learning from mistakes is necessary. Erdogan should try to soften his stand on some controversial issues in the greater good of the country and the countrymen.
Turkey like other countries in the region is faced with various threats on multiple fronts. Therefore Erdogan should tread very carefully. The remnants of previous regimes are on the move to derail the otherwise perfect system of governance in Turkey. He should not allow such elements to make gains. He must reach out to the masses and explain his policies in an effective manner. Fahad Salam Dammam
