EU FMs to meet on migration, Iran, Palestine


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Following a joint invitation by the Luxembourg Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Jean Asselborn, and EU High Representative Federica Mogherini, the EU ministers of foreign affairs will meet on Friday and Saturday in Luxembourg for their traditional informal gathering, called "Gymnich." Luxembourg holds the current EU Presidency.
According to an EU Presidency press release Wednesday, the EU ministers on Friday will examine the various ways in which the EU has to reinvigorate the peace process in the Middle East and improve the situation in the region. In the presence of President of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament Elmar Brok, the ministers will turn later to the Eastern Partnership of the EU and relations between the Union and Russia.
On Saturday, the ministers will be joined by representatives of candidate countries for EU membership to discuss migration and challenges the EU and the candidate countries face in this area. The discussions will then focus on Iran, to discuss relations between the EU and Iran following the conclusion of the agreement on the Iranian nuclear programme.
