Qatar Charity, FAO sign deals on Niger projects

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatar Charity's (QC) office in Niger and UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) have signed two agreements to distribute seeds to farmers and sheep to households.

The first will help over 12,000 farmers and the second around 100 families.

The agreement to distribute seeds during this year's farming season targets minor farmers in villages hit by drought and threat of food crises.

QC will distribute 81 tonnes of seeds and evaluate the farming season in the targeted areas.

The project will help 12,100 farming families to be selected on consultation with local authorities in 124 villages. QC has chosen its executive and supervising teams. QC will distribute sheep to women, mainly widows, in Calvo to support them financially so that they could help their families.

QC will supervise distribution of QR31,000 to women to buy sheep and provide vaccines for sheep during the three-month project.
