Qatar stock index edges lower this week


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) index edged lower this week when the bourse closed Thursday at 12,121.08 points, down 12.15 points, or 0.10 percent.

The traded value of QR 1.32bn this week is a decrease by 13.8 percent compared to QR1.53bn registered last week.

The traded volume of 26,355,691 shares is a decrease by 25.09 percent compared with 35,185,230 shares last week, while the 14,007 transactions is a drop by 17.85 percent compared with 17,051 transactions.

The market capitalization of QR645.39bn is an increase by 0.47 percent compared to with QR642.36bn at the end of previous week.

Banks and financial services topped the traded value this week with 40.53 percent of the total traded value. Industries followed next with 21.55 percent, real estate 20.34 percent, and telecoms 7.84 percent.

Real estate topped the traded volume this week with 35.44 percent of the total traded volume. Banks and financial services followed next with 24.17 percent, industries 15.54 percent, and telecoms 11.02 percent.

Banks and financial services topped the number of transactions this week with 26.17 percent of the total number of transactions. Industries followed next with 25.34 percent, real estate 21.55 percent and telecoms 13.54 percent.

From the 43 QSE-listed companies, 14 ended this week higher, 24 fell and five remained unchanged.

Qatar National Bank topped the traded value this week with 17.46 percent of the total traded value. Barwa Real Estate came next with 11.24 percent and Gulf International Services 7.83 percent.
