HE Minister of Environment Attends Seminar on Genetic Resources


(MENAFN- QNA) The Agricultural Research Department hosted Tuesday a seminar on the access to genetic resources and its benefit. The seminar is to celebrate the World Environment day and was held at Sharq Village with the participation of 120 specialists in the field.

HE Minister of Environment Ahmed bin Amer Al Humaidi said that the ministry, under the leadership of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, is putting a lot of effort into the conservation of the environment and natural resources of Qatar. This is done to achieve the environmental and agricultural goals of Qatar National Vision 2030, His Excellency added. HE also noted that the Environment was one of four pillars of the 2030 vision, which requires more work from the ministry to ensure a sustainable development for the future generations.

HE the Minister then highlighted that ensuring a sustainable development comes through maintaining genetic resources and achieving food security. His Excellency also stressed in the importance of cooperating with other countries in the environmental and agricultural fields to achieve Qatar's goals, noting that the ministry has adopted a number of projects that moves the country in the right direction.

In concluding his remarks, HE the Minister called for all parties involved to work together on maintaining genetic resources and achieving a sustainable development for the future generation.
