Qatar- Aeronautical college batch graduates

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatar Aeronautical College yesterday celebrated graduation of a new batch of pilots, engineers, airport operations management staff and air traffic controllers.

The ceremony was held under the patronage of Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, in the presence of Minister of Transport H E Jassim Seif Ahmed Al Sulaiti, college officials and parents.

The graduating class comprised 98 students, including 52 Qataris. The graduates included 70 males and 28 females.

Al Sulaiti highlighted the support of Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to the college and the Premier's constant supervision of student affairs.

Twenty-six pilots completed 76 weeks of training courses, including ground training featuring 14 tests from Civil Aviation Authority. In the flight training, pilots flew single- and twin-engine aircraft to pass the test as one of the requirements. At the end of the courses, graduates were presented with commercial flight licences for twin-engine aircraft and became qualified for air transport licence.

Ali Ibrahim Al Malki, Director-General of the college, thanked the Emir and officials for opening the door to Qataris to gain skills and knowledge and said the global aviation industry would need five million jobs by 2030.

Al Sulaiti and Al Malki presented certificates and gifts to graduates.

On the sidelines, Al Sulaiti said the graduates will support the aviation industry, meteorological industry and airport operations management. He said the ministry is committed to providing jobs for Qatari graduates in areas of their specialisations.

The number of female graduates surpassed that of male graduates which, he said, shows the aviation field is becoming more attractive to female students.
