BSF Alinma cagers triumph in IBLR
(MENAFN- Arab News) RIYADH: Banque Saudi Fransi (BSF) won over Saudi Investment Bank (SAIB) with a score of 68 to 49 and Alinma beat Arab National Bank (ANB) to the tune of 82 - 75 in Interbank Basketball League of Riyadh at the Yamama Hotel court last Friday.
BSF pulled away in the 2nd half after the first half ended 31 -27 through the steady play of point guard Ivan Marcelino who poured in 20 points and collected 10 rebounds. Providing scoring support were Alcantara (11 pts) and Darwin Padilla (10 pts). Dennis Buot hauled down a team-high 14 rebounds. SAIB was led by Jonas Moreto with 14 points and Karlo Octavo chipping in 14 points. Big man Faisal Attalah had a game-high 21 rebounds and added 4 points.
In the second game Alinma played better defense down the stretch to win over a persistent ANB team. Sameer Adam scored a tournament high 40 points on layups and put backs. He also added a game-high 21 rebounds. Yazid Bastami also had a double double with 21 points and 16 rebounds. Ably supporting the two were Ronald Rivera with 11 points and Frederick Ricalde with 6 points.
For ANB they had stellar performances from Richard Castillo with 26 points and Gab Gabitanan with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Also contributing to the team output were Alex Balisi with 9 points and Mohammed Farroukh with 8 points and 10 boards.
Half time score was 33-32 to Alinma with both teams exchanging leads in the 3rd period with the score tied at 55 at the end of the third quarter. However in the fourth period Alinma started to control the game with better rebounding and getting more free throw points with the excellent offense and defense of Adam.
Best Player award for the first game was awarded to Ivan Marcelino of BSF and in the second game to Sameer Adam of Alinma Bank.
Standings at the end of the first round are: BSF (3-1) SABB (3-1) Alinma (2-2) ANB (2-2) and SAIB (0-4). The second round games start Friday.
The IBLR tournament is being held every Friday at the Yamama court in Riyadh through the stewardship of Chairman Bobby Ting and Vice Chairman Anthony Villanueva in cooperation with PKR Chairman Nel Bradecina and PKR Commissioner Teddy Alada Jr.
