Twin blasts rock "tightly guarded" Baghdad hotels: 10 killed, 28 wounded


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) At least 10 people have been killed and another 28 wounded in dual explosions that hit two hotels in Baghdad.

An explosives-strapped car drove through the Sheraton Hotel security gate in Baghdad's Karrada district and set off a blast at around five minutes past midnight which led to three deaths and the injury of 12, a senior police officer, who requested anonymity, told KUNA.

Only minutes later, another blast shook Babylon Hotel on the same road. It killed seven and injured another 16.

Destruction to nearby cars was also reported in both incidents.
The explosions are surprising particularly as the two hotels are tightly guarded, added the officer.
