Qatari FM on 1st visit to Baghdad in 12 years


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Qatar's Foreign Minister Dr. Khaled bin Mohammed Al Attiyah arrived here on Thursday on a visit to Baghdad, the first since 2003, for talks with Iraqi leaders on the bilateral ties.

He was received at Baghdad International Airport by Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim Al-Jaafari, an Iraqi diplomat told KUNA.

Al-Attiyah is scheduled to hold talks with Iraqi President Fuad Masum, VPs Usama Al-Nujayfi, Ayad Allawi and Nouri al-Maliki ALIKI Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi, and Parliament Speaker Selim Al-Jabbouri.

The talks are expected to focus on the bilateral ties and the reopening of the Qatari embassy here.
