Jordan FM urges coop. to overcome challenges facing Islam


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Nasser Judeh said on Wednesday challenges Islam is facing require cooperation to defend this religion and "launch a war on terror and extremism".

Due to these challenges, the Islamic states should be in the lead to defend Islam and combat terrorism and extremism seeking to distort the real image of this religion and its noble message," Juda said in a speech during the 42nd session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers.

He underlined the importance of meeting and discussions of the conferees on the latest developments to face these challenges, he said, adding the battle will take a long time.

The Jordanian minister congratulated His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on being selected by the United Nations a "Humanitarian Leader" and Kuwait a "Humanitarian Center".
