Khalifa Fund promotes Zaarie programme's products

(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) Senior delegates, including chefs and heads of procurements in Abu Dhabi hotels, have visited a number of farms under the Zaarie programme, which was recently launched by the Khalifa Fund to support and empower Emiratis working in the agriculture sector in the UAE.

The Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development and Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Tourism organised the visit in order to introduce Zaarie products of chefs and heads of procurements in Abu Dhabi's main hotels.

Ahmed Khalfan Al Romaithi, Manager of the Zaarie programme for the Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development, said, "The visit included four farms in Al Khatem and Beda Fares, where the delegates saw the agriculture products which are of very high quality but with competitive prices.

"The programme aims to empower Emiratis working in the agriculture sector and to help them to develop their farms through encouraging them to use the best technology and to spread non-traditional methods of farming to reduce water consumption," added Al Romaithi.

Sultan Al Dhaheri, Acting Executive Director of Tourism sector in the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Tourism, said, "TCA is very keen on supporting all national initiatives and programmes that focus on the tourism sector. The delegates from popular hotels in Abu Dhabi such as Jumeirah at Etihad Towers, Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan, Millennium, Rotana and Ritz-Carlton, expressed their interest in the quality of the products from Zaarie farms. They expressed their willingness to cooperate with the Khalifa Fund in considering those products to cover their daily needs of vegetables and fruits"

Hydroponic techniques used on farms contribute greatly to reducing the negative impact of the weather and soil on agricultural products. In addition, it is a new farming methodology that will assist in reducing water consumption and increasing production in the country.
