(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Siddiqa al-Mahmoudi, medical director of the Blood Donor Centre at HMC, said for the fifth consecutive year, the Blood Donor Centre has achieved a 100% voluntary blood donation rate - the "|highest in the region".
"Thanks to the innovative blood donation awareness programmes we have initiated at HMC, we are playing a vital role in nurturing the culture of blood donation in the community and helping attract more voluntary blood donors," she said.
"The blood donation effort is helping supplement the strategic reserve of the blood bank and in meeting the needs for safe blood and its derivatives by both public and private healthcare facilities in Qatar."
Al-Mahmoudi said HMC's Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology is playing a pivotal role in improving the standards of blood transfusion in Qatar according to the provisions of the National Health Strategy.
