Kuwait- MOE Facing Problems Related To Ranks For Expats

(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Ministry of Education is currently facing problems related to the occupational ranks for non-Kuwaiti teachers, because the Civil Service Commission (CSC) has refused to accredit 976 ranks allocated for them to teach different subjects and to occupy various positions in the psychological and social services sector within the budget for fiscal 2015/2016, reports Al-Rai daily quoting sources.

Sources explained the CSC has been implementing the decision for three years now and the ministry had to hire new expatriate teachers to replace those who resigned or those whose contracts have ended. Sources warned there might be shortage of teachers, similar to what happened in academic year 2012/ 2013 when acting Undersecretary Mariam Al-Wateed announced that some educational districts lack teachers specialized in different scientific fields.

Sources explained the CSC took the decision in order to curb the rising number or expatriate workers in the ministry and the exodus of Kuwaiti teachers from the government sector. Sources said the CSC has stopped the transfer of Kuwaiti employees except those who hold certificates from the Faculty of Education.
