Arab CSR launches CSR Report in GCC countries


(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) Arab CSR, the Arabic encyclopedia for social responsibility, is launching its first report titled 'the Social Responsibility in GCC'. The report monitors the increasing interest of CSR in GCC countries in line with the global trends, making this concept one of our values in our culture.

Haitham Hossam Eldeen, the CEO of Arab CSR, made the announcement in his speech at the conference of Corporate Social Responsibility in GCC that was held on 19th and 20th of April 2015 in Abu Dhabi. Hossam Eldeen talked in his speech about the legislations and laws of CSR in GCC countries, stating that some governmental, non-governmental and academic organizations in GCC took the initiative in this field and built national alliances that enhance this concept.

Hossam Eldeen added: "Each of GCC countries has different legislations and laws for CSR. Some have mandatory laws as allocating part of the company's budget for supporting CSR events and initiatives. Other countries legislations force companies to deduct part of its profits for the national events".

"The diversity of cultures in GCC countries € in spite of the similarities they have € resulted in the diversity of CSR fields. Some countries focus on sports, education and health while others focus on religion or environment. We hope that the report will surpass the case of only importing the international standards and implementing them to creating our own standards that are in line with our culture and social values', he continued.

The report tackles the issues that face CSR concept, and provides solutions and experiences to leave a positive impact on the wider society.
