(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Head of Europe Department at the Foreign Ministry Ambassador Waleed Al-Khubaizi said Thursday that the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's talks with Kuwaiti officials during his planned visit to the country on April 27 would focus on cementing bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in various domains.
The two-day visit comes upon an invitation from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Al-Khubaizi told KUNA on the sidelines of the eighth conferences of the heads of Kuwaiti diplomatic missions abroad.
"Much of the bilateral talks would also tackle the developments in the region, especially the crisis in Syria and the situation in Yemen," he said.
Al-Khubaizi noted that a forum for Kuwaiti and Turkish businesspeople would be held in coincidence with the Turkish Leader's visit with a view to ameliorating economic relations, particularly between the private sectors in the two countries.
Erdogan's visit to Kuwait is the first since he assumed Presidential duties on August 28th, 2014.
Trade exchange between Turkey and Kuwait reached around USD 700 million in 2011 with both nations seeking to further boost that number to reach USD one billion.
The investment sector, namely real-estate, highlighted the strong relations between the two countries. According to Turkish official statistics, there are around USD 1.56 billion worth of Kuwaiti investments in Turkey especially in the real-estate sector.
