Libya's GNC sacks premier

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Libyan outgoing General National Congress (GNC) decided late Tuesday to remove Omar Al-Hasi from his post as prime minister of National Salvation Government.

The first deputy prime minister Khalifa Al-Ghoel will lead the government on a caretaker basis, the GNC Spokesman Omar Hemidan told KUNA.

"The move to replace Al-Hasi came as a result of audit reports and requests by some ministers and undersecretaries who threatened to resign en masse if he remained in office," he revealed.

Legitimacy in Libya has been hotly disputed by the Tripoli-based GNC and the UN-recognized Tobruk-based House of Representatives since August when Fajr Libya (Dawn of Libya) took hold of the capital city.
